Make text bigger on Fire TV and Roku
Small menu words are a common complaint. Here is what each one can and can't do.
Fire TV: zoom in with Screen Magnifier
- Press Home, then go to Settings.
- Choose Accessibility.
- Turn Screen Magnifier ON.
- To zoom: hold Menu and Select together. Press Up or Down to zoom in or out.
Most videos can't be zoomed; this is for menus.
Fire TV: big words in a box (Text Banner)
- In Settings › Accessibility, choose Text Banner.
- Choose Font Size & Color to make the words larger.
A white box then shows the name of whatever is highlighted, in big letters. To turn it off, choose Text Banner again.
Fire TV: High Contrast Text
In Settings › Accessibility, choose High Contrast Text. Amazon calls it experimental; if menus act oddly, turn it off.
Roku: what you can change
Roku says plainly that menu text can't be resized on Roku players and TVs.
Make captions bigger:
- Press Home, then choose Settings.
- Choose Accessibility (or Captions), then Caption style.
- Change Text size. A preview shows the change.
Some apps (like Netflix) use their own caption settings instead.
Have the menus read aloud: press the ★ button four times quickly to turn the screen reader on or off.
